Torrance, CA: Team Honda Muscle Milk announces today that current Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda Supercross Lites rider Cole Seely will fill in for injured Team Honda Muscle Milk rider Trey Canard at select Supercross races beginning with the coming Atlanta round next weekend.

Seely started the 2012 Lites West title chase with a bang, scoring a win in the opening round at Anaheim 1. The 21-year-old from Newbury Park, CA, added a pair of seconds to that win so far this season and is currently third overall in the championship as the Lites West series takes a nine week break.

“Cole proved last year that he has what it takes to run in the Supercross class,” said Team Honda Muscle Milk Manager Erik Kehoe. “He’s a hard-charger, and a good fit for the team. It’s a great opportunity for Cole to showcase his capability on the CRF450R, while maintaining his competitive skills during the break. I want to thank everyone at the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda team and all their sponsors for allowing Cole the opportunity to race a factory Honda for Team Honda Muscle Milk.”

The adrenaline will be pumping once again on the weekend of March 2nd and 3rd at the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Turin, when the curtain rises on a new FIM Freestyle MX World Championship season. Palasport Olimpico is once again the venue hosting the cream of the freestyle motocross crop. Accomplished riders from seven countries will whip the crowd up into a frenzy with the most outrageous tricks and backflip combinations yet devised on our planet.

This year, Turin is to stage not one but two rounds of the world championship, and right from the start, the freestyle MX professionals will be locked in a fierce battle with only one goal in mind – victory! After Javier Villegas (CHL) secured the 2011 world title in a thrilling finale against Remi Bizouard (FRA), the two rivals will be going head to head again in the Italian Grand Prix.

But the other contestants have also been working hard to refine their own repertoires during the winter break with the aim of muscling in on the act. None more so than Czech flip ace Petr Pilat; the Red Bull rider put in a frenetic sprint towards the end of the 2011 world championship, notching up a sequence of podium finishes, so he obviously has great ambitions for 2012. The same goes for last year’s two newcomers, Maikel Melero (ESP) and David Rinaldo (FRA), who will certainly be showcasing their own versions of the Doublegrab Backflip.

2010 champion Libor Podmol (CZE) is also in the line-up along with fans’ favourite Jose Miralles (ESP) who must fancy his chances of taking the ultimate prize after so many runner-up and third-place finishes. Brice Izzo (FRA), who was being touted as a strong contender for last year’s title before missing the second half of the season through injury, will be keen to take up where he left off. Also looking to make progress is German rider Hannes Ackermann; after making it through to his first NIGHT of the JUMPS final last month in Linz, his confidence is sky high.

And following the recent runs by Clinton Moore (AUS), the Turin crowd will already be drooling with anticipation. The Boy From Down Under is sure to perform his 360 and ‘Volt’ body varial. Flying the flag for Italy will be Massimo Bianconcini, Vanni Oddera and Ivan Zuchoni. And the three Azzurri will be pulling out all the stops to get into the final and send the home crowd into raptures.

The freestyle competitions will be supplemented by the Maxxis Highest Air and Race & Styles contests plus backflips on snowmobiles performed by Jostein Stenberg (NOR) and newcomer Jason Cesco (ITA). It is a program that has all the makings of two unforgettable evenings and a worthy prelude to the most gargantuan FIM Freestyle MX World Championship season to date.

I trust everybody’s valentines day is going great. We at FMX East have been wide open so far this year and we don’t plan on slowing down. In between our shows each weekend we have found time to set up some events of our own.

First off is our after Atlanta SX Benefit Bash with proceeds going to ARF (Athlete Recovery Fund) so if you are going to attend the Atlanta SX please stop by Tongue & Groove after to party with us for a good cause. We will have a specialty shot called Good Karma, along with a raffle for prizes where proceeds will go to the ARF. Riders with Pro licenses will get in free and SX ticket holders will get in half price. If any of you would like to attend the Benefit bash send me an email and I will put you on the guest list. If you planned on going to the Monster After party don’t worry the two clubs are right next to each other so you can hit up both.

Also we are very happy to announce the 2012 Moto X Challenge Amateur series schedule. This year will be the biggest and best series yet covering nearly the entire country.

Having only started riding again last Tuesday. It was a huge effort by Cam to perform the show, which was greatly appreciated by the fans that turned out to see him ride along side Jackson Strong and Blake Williams.

As you can see by the attached images we had a number of solid autograph signings over the weekend – these guys were a huge hit for this regional town and we believe it proved to be a fantastic activation piece for the show’s sponsor Metal Mulisha – a huge thanks to those guys for the support!

That’s what Garrett Ahlf did at the beginning of the year. I figured with it being the middle of February that Garrett was ready to throw a leg back over a bike. But when I asked him, he said he was still a couple months out from starting to ride again. I never realized how bad his crash was…so when I asked him to explain what happened, here is how it went…

“January 7th, 2012 was supposed to be a fun day for me Ride Dirt bikes in the AM and head to Anaheim in the evening to watch some good racing. I woke up early to get a session in with Jeff Griffin on my new 450′s, just to get some seat time. We started warming up I felt so comfortable on the new bike…I was testing all my tricks; KOD’s, dead bodies, seat grabs, Whips, etc. Well after about 3 jumps to test my timing on the new bike I told myself “you can flip this thing right now”. As I rolled into the berm before I decided that I was going to flip it, it made me just as nervous as the first time I flipped. This was only my 2nd time riding ramps on the 450 and for some reason something made me want to flip it that day. Anyway I gave it to much throttle off the top of the ramp that sent me shooting over the landing. Since I over shot the landing it threw me into a little over rotation and for some reason made me want to bail off the bike. I landed on the left foot which ended up fracturing my 5th metatarsal. After that my legs gave out on me landing on my butt which than compressed my T-11 and L-1 Vertebrate. I was so scared that I really messed something up in my back so I immediately told Jeff to call 911. The ambulance came and scooped me up and on my way to the trauma center I went. After a few X-rays and long waiting period. They equipped me with a back brace and a foot splint and sent me on my way on crutches. After a few neurosurgeon visits I was relieved that my back injury was only minor and that it would only cost me a few months of being off the bike. Luckily I haven’t been on the injured list since August of 2009 with a collar bone break, so I was due for a crash and glad it wasn’t too serious. I have been doing nothing but playing video games, going to doctor appointments, cleaning and putting graphics on my bikes and also preparing all my tax stuff for 2011. All in all I was bummed about the crash but I did get some stuff done that I probably would have slacked on until last minute if I did not Crash”

“It was rough but I want to thank everyone that has helped me through this process. First my wife Stephanie for getting all the doctors lined up and appointments scheduled. Also my family and friends that have helped do the little things I can’t do right now. Last but not least my sponsors that stuck with me through this time: O’neal, Shifty Illusions, VolCom, Moto-Gate.com, BLUR, Works Connection, Vention, WYVERN, and GPR Stabilizers”
